Gandalf-Approved 3D
…the problem is that the audience must focus their eyes at the plane of the screen — say it is 80 feet away — but their eyes must converge at perhaps 10 feet away, then 60 feet, then 120 feet, and so on, depending on what the illusion is. So 3D films require us to focus at one distance and converge at another. And 600 million years of evolution has never presented this problem before. All living things with eyes have always focussed and converged at the same point.
This is a great article about 3D with a letter from one of the most respected film editors and sound designers in modern cinema, Walter Murch. Hit the source link to read the article.

0My first go at subdivision surface modelling. Still a lot to do in the strap and the watch face but I kinda like this initial render.
0Final render time on this one ran to 5hrs 38mins plus an hour of minor photoshop tweaking. Click for larger image.

After learning how to successfully apply an image map to a model, I went back and added the Nescafé logo to my mug.
0I’m really getting into this 3D stuff…

I’ve been messing around with some 3D stuff again to get myself up to speed before third year and this is one of the renders to come out of today’s sesh. Not really architectural this one but I was using it to look at some lighting/material stuff. Click the image for a larger version.
